Odin Security Services Inc. may use body-worn cameras at this property as part of our security services. Body-worn cameras are used to support safety, accountability, incident documentation, and response to security-related concerns.
Why Body-Worn Cameras May Be Used
- Resident, tenant, visitor, contractor, and staff safety.
- Security incident documentation.
- De-escalation and accountability.
- Response to unauthorized access, trespassing, threats, property damage, theft, or emergencies.
- Review of complaints, incidents, and safety concerns.
- Cooperation with police, fire, EMS, insurers, legal counsel, regulators, or property management where appropriate.
Body-worn cameras are intended to be used openly and for security-related purposes. They are not used for general monitoring of residents’ private lives, entertainment, or unnecessary surveillance.
When Cameras May Be Recording
- Unauthorized access or trespassing.
- Aggressive, threatening, or abusive behaviour.
- Property damage, theft, vandalism, or suspicious activity.
- Police, fire, or EMS response.
- Medical or safety-related incidents.
- Serious disputes or complaints.
- Situations where recording is reasonably necessary for safety, accountability, or documentation.
Where safe and practical, security staff may advise individuals that recording is taking place.
Privacy and Security of Footage
Body-worn camera footage may contain personal information. Odin Security takes reasonable steps to protect footage against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying, modification, loss, theft, and destruction.
- Access to footage is restricted to authorized personnel who require access for a legitimate business purpose.
- Footage is not posted online, shared for entertainment, or provided to unauthorized persons.
- Footage is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected.
Disclosure of Footage
Footage may be disclosed where appropriate or legally permitted, including to:
- Police or law enforcement.
- Fire, EMS, or emergency responders.
- Property management or the client.
- Legal counsel.
- Insurance providers.
- Regulators, courts, tribunals, or government authorities.
- Individuals requesting access to their own personal information, where required by law and subject to applicable limitations.
Odin Security may refuse or limit disclosure where release would affect another person’s privacy, an investigation, legal privilege, safety, security, or another lawful reason.
Retention
General non-incident footage, if any, is typically retained for a limited period. Incident-related footage may be retained longer where required for investigation, police, insurance, legal, employment, client, or regulatory purposes.
